Supplements For Puppies

Your puppy is a growing, active member of the family. Keeping your new pup healthy and happy with the proper diet, exercise, and regular vet visits is essential to a long, happy life – which is what all new pet owners want!

You can also help your puppy grow into a healthy adult  by giving him supplements in addition to his food. There are many options for dietary supplements that can benefit your pup, with some of our favorite suggestions found below:

Puppy Probiotics

Probiotics are good for your dog’s digestive system, as they help ensure that the flora in the gut is healthy. This helps prevent and treat diarrhea, constipation, and other gastrointestinal issues your puppy might have.

They can also help with allergies, skin problems, and weight management. Probiotics can improve digestion by helping keep the gut healthy and balanced. Most commercial pet food brands already have probiotic cultures added to them, so if you’re feeding your puppy kibble, his diet will be supplemented with them.

Puppy Fish Oil Supplements

Salmon oil, fish oil, or omega fatty acids are a type of fat that can help develop your puppy’s skin and coat and can lead to silk smooth fur in some breeds. They also support brain function in puppies which is essential.

You can give your puppy salmon oil as soon as he is eight weeks old. If you’re concerned about giving fish oil to your puppy, talk to his vet so they can recommend another form of omega fatty acids they recommend.

Puppy Glucosamine and Other Joint Supplements

Glucosamine is an important supplement for puppies, as it can help with joint health and prevent hip dysplasia. Other supplements that are often recommended to puppies include chondroitin and omega-3 fatty acids.

However, not all supplements are created equal—some have been shown to be more effective than others in reducing pain and stiffness in dogs with arthritis or other joint problems. Additionally, some dogs may have adverse reactions to specific ingredients or dosing methods used in certain products.

Please speak with your vet to see what they recommend for your puppy or specific dog breed. Our favorite supplement can be found here

Supplements Play an Important Role in Keeping Your Puppy Healthy

Supplements are great for helping your puppy grow and develop healthy joints and bones. They provide extra nutrients that help build a robust immune system, which keeps them from getting sick or injured as much!

Some supplements we recommend include:

  • Probiotics
  • Salmon oil or omega fatty acids
  • Glucosamine & other joint supplements
  • Multivitamins

Supplements are a convenient way to ensure your puppy gets the nutrients they need. The best thing you can do is talk to your vet before making any decisions about supplements. They’ll know what kind of nutrition your pet might be lacking and how you can best ensure your pup is receiving those needed nutrients to live a long, happy tail wagging life.
