Top 10 Things To Teach A Puppy

Here are the top 10 things that you should teach a puppy:

1. Potty training: Firstly you need to teach your puppy where it’s appropriate to relieve themselves, and when it’s time to go outside.

2. Basic obedience commands: Theses are important – you need to teach your precious puppy the basic commands such as “sit,” “stay,” “come,” and “heel.”

3. Socialization: Socialize your puppy with other dogs, people, and different environments to help them grow into confident, well-behaved adults.  Socializing is important to ensure your pup behaves well in all situations.

4. Leash training: All puppies need to learn how to walk calmly on a leash, and to not pull or become overly excited when out on walks.

5. Chewing and biting: Teach your puppy what they can and cannot chew on, and how to control their biting. Teething can be hard but your pup needs to behave properly.

6. Crate training: Teach your puppy to feel safe and comfortable in a crate, which can provide them with a happy and secure place to rest and relax.

7. Basic grooming: Teach your puppy to tolerate basic grooming procedures such as brushing, bathing, and nail trimming.

8. Basic manners: Teach your puppy basic manners, such as not jumping up on people, not begging at the table, and not counter-surfing. Your puppy needs to learn the words “yes” and “no”.

9. Leave it: Teach your puppy to “leave it” when they have an item in their mouth (or about to pick up an item) that they shouldn’t have, or when they’re in a dangerous situation.

10. Reinforcement training: Use positive reinforcement training methods, such as treats and praise, to reinforce good behavior and encourage your puppy to continue to learn and grow and become more obedient.

Remember, puppy training should be a fun and positive experience for both you and your pup. Consistency, patience and love are key!
